Shining Services cleaner at work in Brisbane

Rug Cleaning Services in Brisbane

The risk with rug cleaning in Brisbane is not the clean. It is a damp backing left sitting on timber or tile in a humid house, where the floor takes the mark and the smell starts later.

So we test the fibre and dye first, take the dry soil out of both sides, clean with as little water as the fibre needs, and dry the rug off the floor with air movers before we leave. Or we collect it, wash it off site, dry it flat and bring it back.

  • Fibre and dye tested before any water touches it
  • Cleaned in your home, or collected and washed off site
  • Dried off the floor with air movers

What does our rug cleaning service in Brisbane include?

Wool and synthetic, cotton and blends, machine made and many hand knotted rugs, shag and flatweave, plus runners.

Every rug is fibre tested and dye tested before any water goes near it. Viscose and some hand dyed wool can bleed or brown, and we tell you before we start rather than after.

Both sides get attention. Dust and grit sit in the backing where a vacuum never reaches, so we turn the rug and take that out before the wet clean.

Off-site washing is the other option. We collect the rug, wash both sides, dry it flat and return it, photographed at pick up and again on delivery. It suits heavily soiled rugs, pet accidents through to the backing, and homes where a damp rug on the floor for a day is not workable.

Fitted carpet is a different job. See carpet cleaning in Brisbane.

How often should a rug be cleaned?

Where the rug sits matters more than how old it is.

Every year

Living areas, hallways and anywhere with pets. A rug can hold a lot of grit before it starts to look dirty.

Every two years

Bedrooms and formal rooms with light traffic. Still worth doing, because the backing collects dust whether anyone walks on it or not.

After a spill

Sooner is better, especially on wool. Ring us before you attack it yourself, because the wrong product can set a stain.

What is included in every rug clean?

Four stages, whether we clean it in your home or wash it off site.

Testing and dusting

  • Fibre identified
  • Dye tested for bleed
  • Dry soil removed from both sides
  • Existing damage photographed
  • You get the findings

Cleaning

  • Solution matched to the fibre
  • Low moisture where the fibre needs it
  • Fringes cleaned by hand
  • Wool kept cool, never hot
  • Extracted, no residue left

Drying

  • Lifted off the floor, or dried flat off site
  • Air movers set running
  • Backing checked before we go
  • Pile groomed as it dries
  • Drying time explained

Finish

  • Fringe combed straight
  • Pile set in one direction
  • After photos taken
  • Care advice for the fibre
  • Report sent to you

A home machine run across the top will lift surface dirt. It will not touch what is sitting in the backing, and it usually leaves the rug wetter than it should be.

How is the job run?

Straightforward, and you can follow all of it.

Contact us
  1. Step 01

Send a photo and a size

Rough dimensions, the fibre if you know it, and a picture. That is enough to price it.

  2. Step 02

    Tested and photographed

Condition is photographed before we start, and anything risky is flagged before we wet the rug.

  3. Step 03

    Dusted, cleaned, extracted

Dry soil out first, then a clean matched to the fibre and extraction to pull the water back out.

  4. Step 04

    Dried off the floor

Air movers set running before we leave, with the backing checked first.

Why does drying matter so much for a rug in Brisbane?

Brisbane summers are humid, and a wet rug lying flat on a hard floor has nowhere to send its moisture except down.

  • The backing dries last and stays damp long after the pile feels dry to the hand
  • Timber and bamboo can mark where a damp rug sits
  • Tiles trap moisture underneath, so the smell can start before anyone notices the rug is still wet
  • Air conditioning keeps rooms shut through summer, which leaves little airflow to finish the job

So we use as little water as the fibre needs, extract it back out, and dry the rug off the floor with air moving across it.

What sets our rug cleaning apart?

Four things you get on every rug.

Dried off the floor

In your home the rug is lifted off timber or tile and air movers are set running before we leave. Washed off site, it dries flat before it comes back.

That protects the floor and stops the backing staying damp for days.

We test before we clean

Viscose can brown and some hand dyed wool can bleed. Every rug is fibre and dye tested first.

If it is a risk, you hear about it before we start, and some rugs are better left to a specialist rug restorer; we will say so.

Photographed before we start

Existing wear, a tear in the fringe, a mark you had forgotten: all of it is photographed first.

Nobody has to argue later about what was already there.

Our guarantee

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work.

If a mark wicks back up as the rug dries, tell us and we come back for it.

What do Brisbane customers say about us?

How is rug cleaning in Brisbane priced?

Rugs are quoted, not priced off a rate card. Here is what moves the number.

Size

A runner and a large living room rug are very different jobs.

Fibre

Wool, cotton and synthetics clean differently, and some fibres need slower, low moisture work.

Condition

Pet accidents, old stains and heavy grit in the backing add time.

Send a photo and a rough size and we will give you a fixed figure before we arrive or collect it. Booking the rug with a carpet or lounge clean on the same visit saves a second call-out.

What can you add to your rug clean?

Quoted with the job, never added afterwards.

Pet odour treatment

Treated through the pile to the backing.

Stain protection

Worth it on a light coloured rug.

What do Brisbane customers ask before booking?

What will it cost to clean my rug?

Rugs are priced by size, fibre and condition, so send a photo and rough dimensions and we give you a fixed figure before we arrive.

Do you take the rug away?

If you want us to. We clean rugs in your home, or collect them for an off-site wash, dry them flat and bring them back, with photos at pick up and on return. You are without the rug for a few days, so tell us which suits you.

How long does it take to dry?

It depends on the fibre and the weather. Synthetics are usually quickest and wool slowest, and we tell you on the day when it is safe to put it back down.

Will the colours run?

We dye test every rug first. Viscose and some hand dyed wool are risky, and if yours is one of them you hear about it before we start.

Do you clean both sides?

We take the dry soil out of both sides, which is where most of the grit sits. In your home the wet clean is on the face, with extraction to pull the water back out; washed off site, both sides are washed.

Do you clean the fringes?

Yes, by hand. Fringes mat and yellow faster than the pile, so they get cleaned and combed straight.

What if the rug is already damaged?

We photograph everything before we start, including wear, tears and marks you may have forgotten. You get that record, so nothing is in dispute afterwards.

Can you do the rug and the lounge together?

Yes, on the same visit. Upholstery starts at $35, and the rug is quoted on its size and fibre.

We stay until it's right

Our cleaners don't leave until you're happy with the work. For end of lease cleans, if you're not satisfied and tell us within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean.
